Bug ID: 522583
Summary: Non-Wayland windows become downscaled on a screen
without scaling when different scale factors are set
on different screens.
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.5.6
Reported In:
Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: multi-screen
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
I have multiple screens with different DPI. One of them has a high pixel
density.
Scale for the high dpi screen is set to 150, while 100% for other screens.
Scaling for “Legacy applications” is set to “Apply scaling themself”. With this
configuration XWayland applications like winecfg become ugly downscaled on
screens with a 100% scaling factor.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set Scale to 150% or more for one screen while having 100% for another.
2. Make sure the “Legacy applications (X11)” setting is set to “Apply scaling
themself”.
3. Run winecfg or any other application that does not support scaling.
4. Move the window to the screen with 100% scaling factor.
OBSERVED RESULT
The window has the same size on both scaled and unscaled screens, while it is
downscaled on a screen without scaling.
EXPECTED RESULT
The window for the application stays not scaled at all like it described in a
tooltip.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When the “Legacy applications (X11)” is set to “Scaled by the system” scaling
behaves as described on a screen with scaling, and becomes not scaled on a
screen without scaling.
