Bug ID: 522598
Summary: "while pressed" shortcut to change keyboard stopped
working
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.7.0
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Keyboard Layout widget
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected], [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
Using say the Caps Lock (while pressed) shortcut to change keyboard layout has
stopped working properly since Plasma 6.7. Now pressing the key just changes
the layout, and to revert to the other layout you have to press it again. I.e,
the "while pressed" aspect of the shortcut is not working any more.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to KCM > Keyboard
2. Enable layouts and adds two layouts (say English and French)
3. Go to Key Bindings (top right)
4. Go to Switching to another layout and select Caps Lock (while pressed),
Alt+Caps Lock for the original Caps Lock action
OBSERVED RESULT
When pressing Caps Lock the layout changes but it remains changed once the key
is released and I keep on typing.
EXPECTED RESULT
The layout should revert to the original layout once the key is released (not
pressed any longer).
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.27.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.0.14-201.fc44.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 258V
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (30.9 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: Intel® Graphics
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This shortcut behaviour already changed a bit a while ago (maybe even since
Plasma 6), where the layout wouldn't revert automatically immediately when the
key was released (as it used to do for years), but at least would revert
automatically once we start typing again after releasing the key. This is not
the case any longer, the layout does not revert back at all.
