            Bug ID: 522694
Summary: Significant text input lag when a window spans across
two monitors using the Zoom effect
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.7.2
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: multi-screen
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

System Environment:
* OS: Fedora Kinoite (Wayland)
* Hardware: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, AMD Radeon RX 7800XT, 32GB RAM

Description:
I am experiencing a severe input lag/rendering issue with KWin's desktop zoom
effect on a multi-monitor setup.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enable the Zoom accessibility effect on a multi-monitor setup.
2. Zoom in so that an application window (specifically a web browser with a
text input field, like a chat or AI prompt page) spans across the boundary of
the two monitors.
3. Start typing text into the input field.

Observed Behavior:
There is a massive input lag between the moment a key is pressed on the
keyboard and the moment the character actually appears on the screen. This only
happens when the zoomed window is split across the two displays.

Troubleshooting performed:
* I forced both monitors to run at the exact same refresh rate via the display
settings. The issue persists.
* I tested various Adaptive Sync (VRR) settings. The issue persists.
* The hardware is high-end (RX 7800XT) and should not struggle with rendering.

Suggested Improvement / Alternative:
I recently tested the Cosmic desktop environment, which features an independent
"per-monitor" zoom. Because the zoom does not stretch a single view across the
monitor boundary, this input lag issue does not happen at all. Implementing a
"per-monitor" independent zoom option in KDE Plasma's accessibility settings
would not only be a huge ergonomic improvement, but it would also bypass this
specific rendering bug entirely.
