Hi Christoph, Thanks for the reply. In fact no. Display settings are pretty much basic. See the new attachment I've uploaded. On the other hand, the problem disappeared by it self. I pulled some package updates in the mean time. I can see the vertical line now. There is a difference though. The vertical line is drawn only for lines that contain text (and empty lines between text), not for empty lines past the end of the text. So the height of the line follows the height of the text. I suppose this change was deliberate? Now, my first screenshot shows only a single line and in this particular case a vertical line would be hard or impossible to see because cursor is overlapping it, but in my testing I also opened text files big enough to fill the screen an there was no vertical line.
