Since from my understanding Koko possibly will replace Gwenview as the default image viewer in the future, I thought this comparision might have some relevance. Beside this, I can just tell my subjective personal experience with using Koko and being a "doubleclick user": Even though the places view is of course not a full file manager, for my brain it looks so similar to other folder views that I find myself very often intuitively doubleclicking folders or images, and feeling confused by Koko doing something different than what I wanted. If otherwise Koko would respect the "Clicking files or folders…" setting, it would feel like a more consistent and predictable experience for me.
