            Bug ID: 522969
Summary: KWin Wayland crashes on NVIDIA RTX 4060:
                    GL_FRAMEBUFFER_INCOMPLETE_ATTACHMENT, black screen /
                    no signal after login
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.7.2
       Reported In:
          Platform: Arch Linux
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: platform-drm
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
KWin fails to initialize on Wayland with NVIDIA RTX 4060, resulting in a black
screen followed by "No signal" on the monitor. Same result occurs with:
- nvidia-open-dkms 610.43.03
- nvidia-open-dkms 595.71.05 (downgraded to rule out driver regression)
- Linux 7.1.3-arch1-2 (main kernel)
- Linux 6.18.38-2-lts (LTS kernel, also tested)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log into Plasma (Wayland) via SDDM
2. KWin fails during compositor initialization, screen goes black, then monitor
reports "No signal"

OBSERVED RESULT
journalctl shows repeated:
kwin_wayland: Invalid framebuffer status:
"GL_FRAMEBUFFER_INCOMPLETE_ATTACHMENT"
kwin_wayland: Applying output configuration failed!

EXPECTED RESULT
KWin should initialize normally on Wayland.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Single GPU, no hybrid/laptop graphics (desktop PC)
- Issue first appeared after a crash during a Vulkan game (Counter-Strike 2),
persisted after reboot
- Confirmed not user-profile-specific (reproduced with a fresh test user
account)
- Confirmed not monitor/cable/EDID related (checked DRM modes and EDID, both
valid, HDMI connected, 256-byte EDID read successfully)
- Confirmed no GPU hardware errors (no Xid errors in dmesg, nvidia-smi shows
normal memory usage, no ECC errors)
- Workaround: forcing Backend=QPainter in kwinrc allows login but with no
hardware acceleration (unusable performance)

SYSTEM INFO:
