I also do not believe any changes to sorting are logged anywhere, but adding that could be filed as a wishlist bug, although I'm not sure how high the priority would be. Without looking at the code, but playing a bit, defining the sorting for the separate views within the KMyMoney Configuration dialog sets the default sort order for those views. In the ledger for any each account, left clicking in the header row, and clicking "Use Default" will then use those settings for that account.
