I am not sure this widely happens anywhere else - if it were, this thing would have gotten to SSDM much earlier, I guess. I am also not sure how widespread the problem when this needlessly makes booting longer is. But not applying this on all hardware would seem to be the way to go. For example, given you also develop KDE Linux with the aim to preinstall this on hardware - this is something to potentially turn on or off per device type in such a case. In the PR, it says: > Yeah, I don't get why it didn't work. The idea is similar. If we can't find a drm device, just try again, which is basically all udevadm settle does. Maybe kwin_wayland tried all 10 times too quickly. Not sure where the limit of restarting ten times comes from.
