--- Comment #5 from Shyam Prabhu <[email protected]> --- Not sure if this is helpful but seems like with fresh test account that it's not purely environmental. Fresh account + thunderbolt dock(Dell WD22TB4) + POTD Bing = clean. My real account + either dock or POTD = fails every time. My real account + local wallpaper (single/slideshow) on battery = clean. Also confirmed it's not just autostart apps + kwallet config causing it (copied those onto the test account, still clean docked). So it seems to require the cumulative startup load of a real, long used profile (I have Baloo indexing, ProtonVPN autoconnect, Nextcloud, several autostart apps, KWin script (Krohnkite), etc. running) combined with one additional delay source (Thunderbolt dock negotiation or POTD's network fetch) to push past whatever internal timing window causes the duplicate plasmashell launch. Wasn't able to isolate the exact single component beyond that without a lot more reboot cycles - happy to keep digging if it'd help, but wanted to share what I was seeing so far in case it's useful. For now I'm using a keybound script that SIGKILLs plasmashell and restarts it via kstart when this happens as a manual workaround.
