Bug ID: 523298
Summary: Unable to paste folder name when "new folder" dialog
is opened from context menu
Classification: Applications
Product: dolphin
Version First 26.04.3
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When opening the "Create New Folder" dialog via the context menu "+ Create New
> Folder...", I am unable to paste text into the folder name field using
Ctrl+V. The prefilled and selected "New Folder" text in the input field
disappears and the input field is empty, with just the background text "Enter
folder name".
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy some text to the clipboard in any application.
2. Open Dolphin in your home directory (or any place where you can create a new
folder).
3. Right click on an empty space in the folder and select "+ Create New >
Folder..."
4. In the "Create New Folder" dialog, press Ctrl+V to paste the previously
copied text.
OBSERVED RESULT
The text "New Folder" that is prefilled and selected disappears and the input
field is empty, with just the background text "Enter folder name", same as when
hitting backspace or delete.
EXPECTED RESULT
The previously copied text is pasted into the input field as new folder name,
replacing the prefilled selected "New Folder".

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pasting works fine when opening the "Create New Folder" dialog with its
shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+N, in a new window. But only until the dialog is opened
for the first time via the context menu:
* In a new Dolphin process, open the dialog via the shortcut and pasting works.
Cancel out of it, open it via the context menu and it doesn't work. Cancel
again, back to via shortcut, and pasting no longer works, either.
* In a new Dolphin process, open the dialog via the context menu and it
doesn't work. Cancel out of it, open it via the shortcut, and it also doesn't
work.
