STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a vector layer
2. Using the Ellipse Tool, create a circle on this vector layer
3. Switch to the Shape Selection Tool (icon looks like a mouse cursor)
4. Tap on the circle on the canvas to select it.
5. In the Tool Options docker, go to the Fill tab (paint bucket icon), add a
gradient, and click on the menu icon next to the gradient (icon looks like
three horizontal lines)
6. Choose "edit stop"
7. In the window that pops up, adjust the opacity slider a few times until you
get a "safe assert" error message.
OBSERVED RESULT
You get two error messages:
