Bug ID: 524483
Summary: Unable to receive shared files from an Android device
on desktop; Android app logs "The other end didn't
fetch the payload."
Classification: Applications
Product: kdeconnect
Version First 26.04.3
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: common
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
Attempting to send files to my desktop running Fedora 44 KDE from one of my
Android devices results in an infinitely scrolling "Receiving file"
notification popup from KDE Connect, which fails to ever actually receive the
file.
Logging on kdeconnectd's end reports the following:
kdeconnect.plugin.share: File transfer
kdeconnect.core: FileTransferJob Downloading payload to
QUrl("file:///home/...(removed)...") size: 30544
---
While logcat output of the Android app suggests a failure on the desktop
application's end:
08-20 19:09:42.325 15566 15566 I SharePlugin: Intent contains streams to share
08-20 19:09:42.379 15566 16764 I KDE/LanLink: Using port 1739
08-20 19:09:52.392 15566 16764 E LanLink : Socket for payload in packet
kdeconnect.share.request timed out. The other end didn't fetch the payload.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Send any file using KDE Connect from the specific device to the desktop
OBSERVED RESULT
File transfer effectively fails to initiate but also doesn't error out, and
stays in such state indefinitely until manually cancelled.
EXPECTED RESULT
File transfer succeeds.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window): Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.29.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Android device in question is a phone running LineageOS 23.2/Android 16.
Sending files to the phone from desktop works, and there's no issue with file
transfers in either direction between the KDE Connect app on this phone and a
Pixel 6a running the latest available official version of Android 17.
File transfer also works correctly between the desktop and the aforementioned
Pixel 6a.
