If the test is passed, all checking for recent return from sleep and special handling of EACCES errors is skipped. Hopefully, In this case the performance "hiccup" will be gone. Add line "options: --tracefile i2c_bus_core.c" to your ddcutilrc file. Please submit journal output from runs when your user is a member of group i2c and when it is not. Assuming the tests work as expected, I agree that further discussion of the residual performance issue can take place as a ddcutil github issue. I will open an issue titled "Desktop lags when returning from sleep".
