I don't think you can blame Baloo here, it's not going to index remote drives
unless you tell it explictly to do so. Even then it's a "questionable" idea.

Baloo extracts and indexes the EXIF data embedded in the image (the ISO Speed,
the Focal Length etc, etc), plus file metadata like the xattr tags. It's all in
one place and quickly accessible, for files that have been content indexed.

Without Baloo, Dolphin would have to do the work "there and then" itself.

(Quite likely that this info has appeared earlier in this thread, apologies if
I repeat it...)
