My system is running openSUSE Tumbleweed. At night, I turn off one of the two
monitors connected to the system. KDE Plasma Shell has occasionally crashed
when doing this for several months.
For some time, the issue disappeared completely, but it has now returned and
occurs reliably every night.
In the past, the crash could also occur when I switched one of the monitors to
a different input source. I was able to resolve that particular issue by
changing a system configuration setting.
Currently, however, Plasma Shell crashes every time I turn off one of the two
monitors.
As mentioned above, my system has two monitors. Both are connected to the
integrated GPU of the AMD processor. One monitor is connected via DisplayPort
and the other via HDMI. At night, I turn off the monitor connected to the HDMI
output.
The system also contains an NVIDIA RTX 3060, but no monitors are connected to
it.
The crash can be reproduced sometimes.
