Proposed layout
DESCRIPTION:
As per the quick discussion with Nate (Graham) at Akademy:
I propose being able to change the size of the popups of (icon only and
regular) task manager, with the main goal of resizing the preview within.
REASONING:
Depending on your screen resolution, the popup is rather small, and the preview
inside is even smaller, making it rather useless for many apps as you can't
really see anything anyway.
PROPOSAL:
Nate said he doesn't like settings, and we quickly discussed it, and the idea
was that it could be done similar as kickoff and systray are: you can just
resize them by a drag action and the size is remembered.
In addition to that, I propose slightly re-organizing the elements, and for
pinned icons that don't have custom windows, I propose showing a centered icon
of the app, scaled up to a certain maximum size (see attached screenshot for an
example)
I do have code that does exactly that, as it is how I configured it on my
system, but it's definitely not pretty code, and it's not flexible, but fixed
size (but bigger than our current default)
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Irrelevant, applicable to all configurations, but I can say that the current
default doesn't look great to me on neither a HiDPI desktop dual monitor setup
(2k) nor an old unscaled laptop display nor a heavily scaled modern laptop
display.
