showed a server authenticity check error
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.7.5

Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal

Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
I had set the wallpaper to type Picture of the Day with the provider Astronomy
(NASA) in System Settings in Plasma 6.7.5 on Wayland in a Fedora 45 KDE
installation. When I started Plasma on 2026-9-30, an error box showed the
following:
The server failed the authenticity check (apod.nasa.gov).
The host name did not match any of the of the valid hosts for the certificate.
I think this error is due to the Astronomy Picture of the Day's URL changing to
https://science.nasa.gov/apod/ The change was noted "APOD's main NASA site has
moved: From apod.nasa.gov to science.nasa.gov/apod" at
https://science.nasa.gov/image-article/apod-2026-september-29-sh2-188-the-shrimp-nebula/
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log in to Plasma 6.7.5 on Wayland in a Fedora 45 KDE installation
2. Start System Settings
3. Select Wallpaper in System Settings
4. Set Wallpaper type to Picture of the Day
5. Set Provider to Astronomy (NASA)
OBSERVED RESULT
The Astronomy (NASA) Picture of the Day wallpaper showed a server authenticity
check error
EXPECTED RESULT
No error should've been shown.
