            Bug ID: 526713
Summary: Allow the live preview to be wider than the editor
                    (remove the 50% width cap)
    Classification: Applications
           Product: ghostwriter
      Version First 26.08.1
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: All
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
The live preview can never be wider than the editor. MainWindow::adjustEditor()
limits it to half of the window width left after the sidebar:

    htmlPreview->setMaximumWidth((width - sidebarWidth) / 2);

I would like to be able to make the preview wider, e.g. for documents with wide
tables or code blocks, for reading a long document while making small edits,
and on large monitors.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a Markdown file and enable the live preview.
2. Drag the divider between the editor and the preview towards the editor.

OBSERVED RESULT
The divider stops when the editor and the preview are the same width. The
preview cannot get wider than the editor.

EXPECTED RESULT
The divider can be moved further, until the editor reaches its minimum width
(10% of the screen, as now). The preview can take most of the window.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Windows 11 (10.0.26300)
KDE Plasma Version: n/a (Windows)

                             KDE Frameworks Version: 6.30.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
ghostwriter: current master (26.11.70)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Removing the setMaximumWidth() call fixes it in a local build: the divider
moves freely and the minimum widths still keep both panes visible. If the
current default is preferred, the limit could become a setting instead.

Related but different: bug 463359 and bug 516674 ask for a preview-only mode;
this request keeps both panes.
