khelpcenter is mangling syntax used in the AUTHORS section of unix manual
pages. Manuals written in mdoc(7) semantic markup have two syntaxen that are
not being rendered correctly: `.An --nosplit` and `Mt`.
`.An -nosplit` is a macro that puts the AUTHORS section into prose mode,
basically. You can write it at the beginning of the section and it tells the
formatter not to put a line break between the author (marked up with `An`) and
the mail address (marked up with `Aq Mt`). The Mt macro puts the mail address
in the database. Everything in a manual page written with semantic markup is to
go into a database.
This is visible on nearly every BSD style manual page. For example, abort2(2)
in FreeBSD has an AUTHORS section that renders like this:
```
AUTHORS
-nosplit The abort2 () system call was designed by Poul-Henning Kamp <Mt
[email protected] > . It was implemented by Wojciech A. Koszek <Mt
[email protected] > .
```
Note the `-nosplit` and `Mt` are printed as text instead of processed as roff
syntax. Also note the spaces it is doing to the mail addresses (unrelated note
the erroneous space it inserts in between the name of the function and the ()
denoting that). It is supposed to look like this:
```
AUTHORS
The abort2 () system call was designed by Poul-Henning Kamp <[email protected]> .
It was implemented by Wojciech A. Koszek <[email protected]> .
```
The actual mdoc source for the section in question looks like this:
```
.Sh AUTHORS
.An -nosplit
The
.Fn abort2
system call was designed by
.An Poul-Henning Kamp Aq Mt [email protected] .
It was implemented by
.An Wojciech A. Koszek Aq Mt [email protected] .
```
