Bug ID: 526773
Summary: Clicking a link in the HTML message viewer launches
the browser twice
Classification: Applications
Product: kmail2
Version First 6.8.1
Reported In:
Platform: CachyOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: commands and actions
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
Steps to reproduce:
1. Fresh CachyOS install (reproduced on real hardware and in a clean VM)
2. Open a message in KMail that contains an HTML part with a link
(also happens when KMail runs inside Kontact)
3. Left-click the link in the message viewer
Actual result:
The default browser is launched twice, so the URL opens in two tabs.
`journalctl --user -f` shows two consecutive "Started <browser>"
entries for a single click.
Expected result:
The link is opened once.
Additional information:
- Happens with both Vivaldi and Firefox, so it is not browser-specific.
- Does NOT happen when using right-click -> "Open Link in Browser".
- Does NOT happen with "Prefer plain text" for plain-text messages.
- `xdg-open https://example.org` and `kioclient exec https://example.org`
open the URL only once.
- Also happens under QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb, so it is not Wayland-specific.
- Disabling "Check for tracking URLs" and Google phishing check makes
no difference.
- A fresh profile in a clean VM shows the same behavior.
Versions:
kmail 26.08.1-2.1
messagelib 26.08.1-1.1
qt6-webengine 6.11.2-1
plasma-desktop 6.7.5-1.1
