Summary: [Request] GPU Scaling From Virtual Resolution On
Wayland
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First unspecified

Platform: CachyOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Target Milestone: ---
Flags: Mesa+
Kwin Wayland does not have a GPU scaling mode for custom monitor resolution.
A GPU scaling means, the desktop/applications outputs the custom virtual
monitor resolution, and the GPU scales/streches to native monitor resolution,
then output to the monitor.
On X11, this can be done by
`xrandr --output DisplayPort-1 --mode 2560x1440 --rate 320 --scale-from
1792x1440`
This feature is for 4:3 streching gaming, especially in FPS gaming. Many
professional gamers also use 4:3 resolution.
It is not feasible to output them as a custom EDID resolution (kscreen-doctor
output customMode), as the monitor is unlikely to support them.
Plasma 6.8.0 dropped X11 support now, but this feature is missing in Wayland.
