[email protected] changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #14 from [email protected] --- Hello digiKam developers, I wanted to share some additional troubleshooting findings related to digiKam remaining in memory after the application window closes. We experienced a persistent shutdown hang while running a portable digiKam installation on Windows. The application operated normally, including browsing photographs and accessing its SQLite databases, but the digiKam.exe process remained active after closing the window. We investigated the problem using Microsoft WinDbg. Our debugging indicated that the application was hanging during shutdown, with COM/Windows networking-related activity involved. However, we did not establish a definitive root cause. Our findings: - The Qt5 build consistently exhibited the shutdown problem. - Switching to the digiKam 9.1.0 Qt6 build eliminated the issue. - We retained the portable photo collection and SQLite database setup. - We successfully tested the Qt6 installation on two Windows computers. - The Qt6 build now closes normally and releases its process. I noticed this earlier report was marked resolved. Our experience may represent a related issue or a regression in a newer Qt5 build. I hope these findings are useful. We appreciate the work that goes into developing digiKam, and we're very happy to have a reliable portable installation working now.
