Bug ID: 527512
Summary: focus follows mouse may cause application launcher to
close unexpectedly when using floating panel
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.7.5
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Application Launcher (Kickoff) widget
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected], [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
Due to input polling, clicking on the app launcher in a floating panel and then
moving the cursor to the widget may result in the cursor being polled between
the floating panel and the menu. When "focus follows mouse" is enabled, this
can focus a window visible near the gap between the panel and the widget.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable "focus follows mouse" in window behavior
2. Enable floating panel (including minimizing windows that make it not float)
3. Open some window near the panel and widget, but not near enough to cause the
panel to unfloat
4. Click on application launcher (or menu)
5. Move mouse into widget slowly
OBSERVED RESULT
Application launcher closes
EXPECTED RESULT
Application launcher does not close
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.30.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
it should be possible to use focus follows mouse and floating applets at the
same time, or, focus follows mouse should indicate that it is broken in
combination with floating applets
