            Bug ID: 527940
Summary: Zoom does strange things when traversing content in a
folder (carry forward zoom state, but often at very
                    different zoom ratio etc)
    Classification: Applications
           Product: digikam
      Version First 9.2.0

            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal

DESCRIPTION
In Album View, zoom seems to persist across images. So, the Fit To Window seems
to be more a system setting than an image, or a default mode for next image.
This is a problem, because Zoom seems to be pixel based, so if I have a photo
that is 1200x800 and I zoom to some small section- say, 10% of that image), and
then I jump to another photo that has 4000x3000 resolution, the zoom pixel area
is approx the same, but the ratio of the screen isnt. The offset seems to work
the same way- so if the upper left corner is a 200,200 it seems to frame the
next image with the zoom targeting that coordinate. This is a problem if you
have 2 photos that are very similar but of very different resolutions (i.e. an
upscale you are validating), where its not ratiometric for the area being
zoomed (magnification nor position)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. On any photo of lower resolution, zoom in on the center of the image to some
tight scope- 5-10x
2. Select another photo from the picker along the top of the view window, that
is high resolution, or just right/left arrow to index the image

OBSERVED RESULT
Zoom window remains in zoom mode despite legacy image setting, but worse, the
ratio of the zoom window to the full image changes, as does the position of the
window, if the pixel resolution/ratio changes

EXPECTED RESULT
Ideally, system would deal with this as a ratio (% zoom, % offset from X/Y) vs
absolute pixel window size and offset. As a secondary, it might be helpful if
zoom had a second mode where it could be enabled as persistent until mode was
changed to 100% or Fit to Window (as it works now), but also a mode where it
reverts to the selected mode on image scroll. This would be less necessary if
the zoom window were ratiometric, since you wouldnt end up with a zoom window
that is tiny or off the image etc where that can be confusing (did the new
image load, is it not supported, etc)
