Bug ID: 528085
Summary: menus on wrong monitor when stretching window over 3
monitors
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.8.0
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: multi-screen
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When I stretch any application over 3 monitors and I open a menu, the contents
of the menu are shown on my middle (and primary) monitor, instead of the
monitor it should be. This happens with Kate, Dolphin, Konsole, and other
programs, both with the hamburger menu and the right mouse button click menu.
When the window is stretched over 1-2 monitors, everything works fine.
MOTIVATION FOR REPORTING
The only program I use on 3 monitors is LMMS. This is where I first noticed
this. Then I tested it in other programs (which I normally wouldn't use on 3
monitors) and noticed it was a general issue.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. Attach 3 monitors to a video card.
1. Open a program
2. Resize it to use 3 monitors
3. Open a menu
OBSERVED RESULT
The menu opens on the primary monitor.
EXPECTED RESULT
The menu to open at its normal position (i.e. at the position of either the
menu in the interface or the cursor.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.8.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0
Qt Version: 6.12.0
Kernel Version: 7.2.11-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31.3 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The resolution of all 3 monitors is 1920x1200 and they are horizontally
adjacent.
Before plasma 6.8 I used plasma with Xorg, so I don't know if there is an older
version of plasma using Wayland where this doesn't happen. It didn't happen in
plasma 6.7 and earlier when using Xorg.
