After the Oct 31 update I got the same thing again: splash, black screen, plasmashell crash looping (6 crashes in about a minute). Same spot in the stack too, QQuickItem::setParentItem coming from PlasmaQuick::ContainmentView::setSource. Went back to the 6.7.5 snapshot and that works fine. The broken boot had plasma-workspace 6.8.2-1.1 and kernel 7.3.0, nvidia still 615.78.08. Qt was 6.12.0-3.1 again, so same Qt build both times. A few other things I should add: - My normal session has three outputs right now (DP-1, DP-2, DP-3). The report above only lists two. - I run a patched library through LD_LIBRARY_PATH in a plasmashell service drop-in, which I should have mentioned earlier. Plasmashell crashed the same way without it, so I don't think that's it. - 6.8.2 didn't crash in a separate virtual desktop session on the same machine, which has one output and a different config. Could be the monitors, could be the config, I haven't narrowed that down. - The "unknown wallpaper provider type" line also shows up on the working 6.7.5, three times at login, so I doubt it's related. Still no proper backtrace, sorry. That boot ran from a snapshot, so the core files were gone after the reboot. Getting one means going back to the black screen with debuginfod.
