Bug ID: 528213
Summary: Brightness fluctuation when opening the lid
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.7.5
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: Power management & brightness
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
The light sensor data is used when opening the lid to set the brightness
however this results in the brightness moving down (lid close => dark) then up
when it should only have moved once.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Close the lid
2. Open quickly the lid (I mean do trash your laptop 1-2 seconds is a fine time
from closed to opened)
3. Profit
OBSERVED RESULT
Brightness is fluctuating from a dark environment to a bright one.
EXPECTED RESULT
Brightness should adapt once when opening the laptop.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window):
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I would recommend to read the angle sensor when that is available to sense
whether or not the lid is moving. If so throw away the read values and wait
until the lid has stopped moving (maybe having an epsilon for cheap laptop
where the lid could move due to vibration is a good idea).
If no such sensor is available implement a grace time from when the screen is
powered on of a around 2 seconds, to allow the user to open the lid to their
desired position.
