            Bug ID: 528401
Summary: Allow Slideshow mode to skip dynamic wallpapers that
lack the active light/dark counterpart during
                    time-of-day switching
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First 6.8.90
       Reported In:
          Platform: Arch Linux
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
Component: Image & Slideshow wallpaper plugins
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected], [email protected]
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Current Behavior:
When using the "Slideshow" wallpaper type paired with "Switch dynamic
wallpapers: Based on the day-night cycle", Plasma rotates through dynamic
wallpapers in the selected folder. However, if a dynamic wallpaper only
contains metadata/assets for one variant (e.g., it is a dark-only or light-only
wallpaper and lacks its opposite counterpart), Plasma falls back to showing
that single available variant. This results in a dark wallpaper displaying
during the day (or vice versa), which breaks the consistency of the day-night
cycle theme.

Proposed Enhancement:
Please introduce a fallback behavior or strict filtering option for the
day-night cycle engine when running in Slideshow mode.
If a dynamic wallpaper lacks the appropriate counterpart for the current time
of day (e.g., it is daytime, but the dynamic wallpaper only contains a dark
variant), the slideshow engine should automatically skip that wallpaper and
move to the next available file in the queue until it finds one that matches
the required light/dark state.

Why this is useful:
This will allow users to drop a large, diverse mix of dynamic wallpapers into a
single slideshow folder. Users can enjoy a seamless day-night transition
without one-sided or incomplete wallpapers clashing with the current system
theme and time of day.
