I think Discord might have actually fixed this in 1.0.168. I was initially able to reproduce this on 1.0.165 flatpak (the reported version from comment #0) and then the bad behavior persisted in 1.0.168. Which is how I came up with the above comment. However, after blowing out my Discord flatpak app preferences entirely by deleting the ~/.var/app/com.discordapp.Discord folder, I can't seem to reproduce it anymore. (Temporarily moving the folder out of the way would have also done the trick.)
