This was a real crash in 3.8.2, and it was fixed in commit 3cb97ba7df ("Mount model wizard improvements"), which first shipped in 3.8.3. When no catalog star is near a point, startAlignmentPoint() now slews to the point's coordinates instead of dereferencing a null object. The Any Stars, Named Stars and Any Object wizards also skip such points instead of adding them.
