It seems that in Dolphin, and in the open file dialog if you enable "show aside
preview", that the preview goes by the hovered file.
In Dolphin, you have to hover over the file for a second or two, for it to show
in the preview, even if you select the file very quickly.
In the Open File Preview, any file that you hover over, changes the preview
instantly.
When the doubleclick-to-open option is selected, I'd more expect it so that
previews are only affected by selected files, not files that are hovered. (but
keep that behavior for singleclick-top open mode)
