The confirmation flag is rather insignificant, sometimes devs set it when they
can reproduce the problem.
To confirm this is really/likely this bug, run
KWIN_EXPLICIT_SYNC=0 kwin_x11 --replace &
and see whether it ever occurs with this variable exported.
