To zoom out we only have the "zoom out"-button in the toolbar. Alternatively,
the mouse wheel can be used to zoom in and out while being in the "Select and
Zoom" mouse mode.
I don't completely understand the way how this is implemented in Solidworks and
Lazarus, which you mentioned. Which part of the view is shown if you do a
selection ("press the mouse and move it to the upper left") and release the
mouse?
