X or wayland? Also please tell us which distro?
Does this happen for a new user?
Can you access krunner with alt+f2
if so can you spawn plasmashell from there and report on any output.
Failing that, can you from a TTY look at ~/.local/share/sddm/xorg-session.log
and report if there's anything relevant there.
