If I'm careful, I can use KDE desktop without issue (thanks to whoever fixed the problem, even partially). But it is not completely fixed. For example, I reported https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386752 to kwin where I described the steps to reproduce the problem (it reproduces on Kubuntu 17.10). The black textures appear in different elements in the UI, including the desktop background, so I'm not sure if it is a kwin or plasma problem.
