Hm, I must be doing something different from you:
* I created a layer with drop shadow, inner glow, satin
* I exported the layer style to a file called bla.asl
* I created a new image, and imported the asl file
* I selected the bla style in the asl file (we should be able to store more
than one layer style in an asl file, but I guess that never got implemented)
* All three layer styles get correctly applied
