Yes, that's correct. Or do you expect plasma-pa to show incorrect value when
some application changes its volume?

So what most likely happen here is that audacious steals volume shortcuts. And
before you say that it shouldn't: plasmashell is just normal application (at
least on X11) so if plasmashell can handle global shortcuts then any other
application can and can prevent plasmashell from handling that shortcut.
