Most of them show local directories, but some are connected via sftp to remote
servers. In these directories usually there are far less than 100 files and
some subdirectories. There are two or so exceptions with in between 500 and
1.000 files and several hundred subdirectories. But these only contain text
based files like html and m3u.

Well, preview now is only on for pictures. Until a day or so ago I had it on
for PDF and Co., plain text documents and DOC, ODT etc. The letter three I had
switched off recently since the icons were only replaced with unreadable text
and I did not see anymore what type of document they were. Thus preview seems
pretty useless to me.

BTW, since I had rebooted my machine this morning all but two dolphins consume
around 100 MByte. The two consuming more memory have two and four tabs
respectively, whereas the other have only on. It seems that each additional tab
consumes about 80 MByte.

Anyhow, 80-100 MByte for just showing some icons seems a lot to me. In one case
there are only six subdirectories and eight files in one side of the split view
window and three more directories in the other side. And all of the files are
small text files or sockets and there is now preview shown at all. This dolphin
consumes 97.196 K. Incredible.
