Could you give a try to our official Ubuntu PPA's: https://launchpad.net/~kdenlive We have 3 PPAs: kdenlive-master gives you current git master kdenlive-stable gives you 15.12 branch kdenlive-testing gives you the 16.04 branch These PPAs contain recent git versions of Frei0r and MLT.
