Now I saw the 5.6.1 changelog
(https://www.kde.org/announcements/plasma-5.6.0-5.6.1-changelog.php) and it
mentioned this fact which I soon noticed myself. Namely that applications can
no longer be left ungrouped in the Icons-only task manager. I would like to
know why, because I liked this feature. Without it, I'm considering switching
to another desktop.
