I started to experience this problem since updating to Plasma 5.6 and Qt 5.6 as
packaged by Arch Linux. The main panel appears on the secondary screen and
disappears altogether when the external display is disconnected. So far I found
no way around it, logout/login cycles don't work for me. Interestingly this
worked perfectly fine for me with Plasma 5.5.5 and Qt 5.5. I attached some
debugging output.
