I figured out thanks to help in Arch Linux forum:
It depends on window focus settings in kwin. I had focusPolicy = 3, when the
firefox dialog was unclickable.
The problem disappears when focusPolicy <= 2, i.e. anything else than focus
strictly under mouse.
PS. Some semantics: in focus settings it says "focus under mouse". Mouse it a
physical device, and is not even used by most laptop users. Focus is under
_cursor_, a graphical entity.
