It is more important in this case what you have configured in: SystemSettings -> Application Style -> Widget Style : Widget Style. For example: Breeze, CDE, CleanLooks, ... Whitout deleting the .fontconfig folders, just move them to another name, for example: mv .fontconfig fontconfig.testing, if it is possible, outside the plasma session, and see if this makes any difference after restarting plasma and dolphin.
