Hi, Brylie I had this problem with an external hard drive that was ext4 also not on Ubuntu or any derivative it's for a media player that runs Debian but this may help. Open up the good old terminal type in $lsblk that will last all your drives if you see it in there try this $ sudo fsck -y /dev/xxx the XXX is where you put your drive in so if your drive is let's say sda1 it will look like so $ sudo fsck -y /dev/sda1 Hopefully that will help you.
