--- Comment #1 from Thomas Fischer <fisc...@unix-ag.uni-kl.de> ---
I cannot reproduce your problem, which makes it hard to help you here. There
are several things you can test in the following order:
- Create a new test user account on your system and use KBibTeX there. If you
cannot reproduce the problem, then some file in your regular user's home is the
cause
- Setup a virtual machine with a fresh installation of Arch Linux and use
KBibTeX there. If you cannot reproduce the problem, then your local
installation including system libraries could be the problem.
- Setup a virtual machine with an independent, KDE-based Linux distribution
which uses recent Qt and KDE libraries, for example Fedora's KDE spin or
Kubuntu. Test KBibTeX there.
Based on your results, we can try to figure out the next steps.

Regarding compiling KBibTeX from Git, you may alternatively try out the
instructions here:

> SUMMARY
> When trying to open the edit dialog for the second time KBibTeX freezes

>
> OBSERVED RESULT
