I resize it, making it thinner and thinner, and then after it passes some barrier of width (about 100-150 pixels), it disappears completely. I find it very useful on my small screen (1024 x 600) on old EEE PC. Qt widget style is Breeze, LXQT theme Lubuntu Arc. Thease are stock settings of Lubuntu 18.10 that I have. View->Layout is Wide.
