Christoph Feck - As you can probably tell, I am pretty unfamiliar with the Linux operating system as well as the correct use of the "KDE Bugtracking System." Thank you for suggesting to move up to Mint 19, but I will follow the advice of the person who said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Albert Astals Cid - Thank you for your suggestion. Yes, I think that Linux Mint 18.3 shows Palapeli (flathub) in the Software Manager, but I'm not sure what this does or how to use it. Like I said, it is now working well enough for me. Ian Wadham - I especially want to thank you for explaining that the changes that have been made to Palapeli after version 2.0, are changes that really don't effect users like me. Also, thank you for taking the time to look at the BigJig program. I had spent years playing that program on various Windows operating systems, but didn't want to contaminate my Linux Mint with Wine. So, I found Palapeli to be a good substitute. I especially like the fact that the puzzle pieces are all different, unlike BigJig. As I noted above, everything seems to be working well within the parameters of my requirements and knowledge.
