I can reproduce this in the following condition and steps:
Window mode: tabs
- With two images open:
- Change focus from canvas to any other docker, (example, Change brush opacity)
- Now, do not make cursor enter the canvas area and change active image by
selecting another tab.
- Enter canvas and there will be no cursor.
This does not happen in subwindow mode.
Tested on macOS Qt 5.12.3
