Bug ID: 412639 Summary: Plasma crashes on login Product: plasmashell Version: 5.16.5 Platform: Neon Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: generic-crash Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: kde.for...@develdog.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 123039 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=123039&action=edit Crash report SUMMARY Following a system update, now Plasma crashes right after login. The desktop wallpaper shows up then a crash report window pops up. Once the report is filed up and the crash report window closed, there's only a black screen + the mouse cursor visible. You cannot quit, unless you restart the sddm service. Everything's fine if you pick a different desktop manager (in my case XFCE) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Select user on login manager 2. Type password 3. Type enter to login OBSERVED RESULT Black (as in color) screen + visible mouse cursor. The desktop is not loaded, you can move the mouse around but that's it. Same behavior when selecting Plasma with Wayland at the bottom of the Plasma login manager. I also moved the ~/.kde folder (to let Plasma create a new one) and repeated the steps aforementioned with the same results (i.e crash and black screen). EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE neon User Edition 5.16 (Plasma version 5.16.5) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Application: Plasma (plasmashell), signal: Segmentation fault (See full crash report in attachment) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
