            Bug ID: 412716
           Summary: Bluetooth headphones spontaneously disconnect
           Product: Bluedevil
           Version: 5.16.5
          Platform: Archlinux Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: now...@gmail.com
          Reporter: bdus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

On a consistent basis, my noise-canceling Bluetooth headphones spontaneously
stop playing audio despite showing up as "connected" in the Bluetooth desktop
tray widget. The headphones seem to be able to connect normally, but after some
period of time of playing audio, usually a few minutes, the audio will stop
playing. A minute or so later, the headphones will disconnect entirely. It
seems to have the same behavior as if the headphones were moved out of range of
the Bluetooth adapter. Disconnecting and reconnecting via the KDE UI
temporarily fixes the problem, but the headphones will always stop working
again within a matter of minutes. My Bluetooth headphones are effectively
unusable on my system.

This is a problem that was newly introduced sometime in July 2019, as I never
encountered this issue before then. Indeed, reverting my Arch Linux
distribution to July 4, 2019 solves the issue. I am using the latest KDE
packages for Arch Linux.

The problem also seems to be limited to certain headphone models. My model is
Sony WH-1000XM2. Another user reported having similar (but not identical)
problems with the Sony WH-1000XM3, and no problems with a pair of Chinese
wireless headphones.

I've posted this issue on the Arch Linux forums here:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=249173
Based on the discussion there, I have reason to believe that the problem may be
specific to KDE and not a deeper problem. I could be wrong.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Sync and connect Bluetooth headphones (Sony WH-1000XM2 is known to have this
problem)
2. Play audio for a few minutes, until the headphones stop playing audio and
eventually disconnect

OBSERVED RESULT
After connecting and playing audio for a while, the headphones spontaneously
stop playing audio and eventually disconnect.

EXPECTED RESULT
The headphones should work normally, as they did with versions of KDE before
July 2019.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
OS: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.62.0
Qt Version: 5.13.1

Headphone model: WH-1000XM2
